Many people dismiss chiropractic as being something only for back pain, but chiropractic treatment can be used to treat a wide variety of physical issues, such as migraines and headaches, chronic pain, carpal tunnel, pain due to injury or muscle strain, and much more.

Can I Be Adjusted While Pregnant?

The answer is a resounding YES!! That answer surprises a lot of people. Becoming pregnant and starting a family is a very exciting time for most women. It is also a time of great change for them. The spine and nervous system of the mother now has two people to support. With all of the physical changes taking place, the spine can shift. When the spine shifts, something called a vertebral subluxation develops. A subluxation is when the s[pine gets stuck in the wrong position and irritates the spinal nerves in that area. This nerve irritation can interfere with how the brain and body communicate with each other. When the brain and body can't communicate properly, mom and baby don't function at their optimum level.

Keeping the spine aligned properly and the body functioning at its highest level has many benefits during pregnancy and labor. For example, spinal nerves in the middle of your back control your digestive track and by keeping this area free from subluxation (misalignment), the symptoms of heartburn may be eased. Keeping the low back and pelvis free from subluxations can help with relieving sciatic nerve pain. Women under regular care during their pregnancy also report a decrease in the incidence of morning sickness and and increase in sleep.

Dr. Irvin Hendersen, MD stated that "women who received chiropractic care in their 3rd trimester were able to carry and deliver their child with much more comfort."

Dr. Joan Fallon, DC conducted research that shows first time moms that received chiropractic care, decreased their labor times by 24% and those who were on their second and third births, decreased their labor times by 39%.
